Abstract

On November 19, 2024, the XXI Professional Conference Actualízate was held at the Faculty of Documentation Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), organized by SEDIC and the Department of Library and Information Science. The conference featured three thematic panels. The first focused on emerging professional profiles in library and information science, highlighting the growing demand for hybrid competencies in areas such as data curation and digital analysis. The second panel addressed ethical challenges posed by artificial intelligence (AI), emphasizing issues of privacy, transparency, and sustainability. The final panel show cased successful  applications of data science in libraries.The discussions underscored the need for continuous, interdisciplinary, and updated training that integrates ethical and technical dimensions to address the challenges of the digital age. Libraries were recognized as key agents of change and essential support for research in the 21st century.
