Abstract

The historical archive of the ELZABURU firm, with 160 years of history, is an invaluable source for studying the economic and industrial development in Spain and other surrounding countries. Through the analysis of its patent, trademark, and design applications from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, one can discover the main areas of innovation, the difficulty in determining the initial inventor of certain technologies, the collaboration networks of industrial property agents, or the controversial patent medicines. The article concludes with a recognition of various little-known Spanish inventors.
