Abstract
Traditionally, the value of the museum librarian has not been especially well recognized, although their role has always been appreciated by those who have required their guidance and services. The vertiginous technological progress of recent years has been transforming the role of the librarian and the vision that the public has of them. Their mission now goes beyond providing information. They are now contributing and adding their knowledge in a decisive way to research and are thus becoming an active part of such studies. This collaborative work transcends the physical space of the library. As an integral part of the institution’s services, it must disseminate its assets through an institutional digital repository, allowing its interoperability with the contents of the museum's collection, so increasing its visibility and fostering the interest of potential new users.
