Abstract
From 5 to 7 November 2025, Granada hosted the 12th National Congress of Public Libraries, an event that brought together professionals, researchers, and institutional representatives under the theme “Public Libraries: Where Culture Becomes a Right.” Over the course of the three-day conference, key topics were addressed, including media and information literacy, censorship, collection policies, the neuroscience of reading, and the cross-cutting impact of artificial intelligence on library services, among others. The presentations and discussions also highlighted the role of libraries as safe, inclusive, and democratic spaces that ensure equitable access to knowledge and strengthen citizens’ critical thinking. This review aims to synthesise the main contributions shared during this important gathering.
